Apple service, nothing better!
Last week, on vacation, I discovered that my iPad 2 was not recording sound; I tried recording some sounds and just got static; I then tried the Skype Test Call service and that also was silent.
Tonight I booked and visited the Genius Bar at my local Apple store. The “genius” tried to record using the iPad 2 camera/video App, and confirmed no sound. Then, astonishingly, I was offered a replacement iPad 2 – and they apologized that it was not possible to transfer all my settings over.
So within maybe 20 minutes, I was heading home with a replacement unit, as good as new.
I can’t think of any other business where that would happen. Maybe “send it in for service” but never a perfect “here’s a new one”. Exceptional!
Recently, after a family get-a-way, I returned with not one, not two but three broken screens. an iphone4, iphone 3gs and an ipod. I went in fully expecting a hefty and irritating repair process. To my surprise they had kept my many Apple purchases and made me a Business Member or something of the sort and directed me to a special individual to help streamline sales and service. I thought it was nice, kind of like being a “frequent-buyer”. They fixed two items at no cost to me and quickly too and provided a replacement ipod. I was so impressed, I decided right then to buy ipads for each of my two retail showrooms. We were already using them for charge card terminals and their great service and backing of their products spurred more spending. Hats off to Apple!!
